Ideal for 8 – 12 people although not particularly child friendly for those less than 4 years old, mainly due to wide gaps between side railings. Would suit children +4 years of age. STATEMENT BY THE ZIMBABWE TOURISM AUTHORITY ON THE STATUTORY INSTRUMENT 142 OF 2019: RESERVE BANK OF ZIMBABWE (LEGAL TENDER) REGULATIONS, 2019
The Zimbabwe Tourism Authority would like to assure all visitors to Zimbabwe that the recently promulgated Statutory Instrument 142 of 2019: Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (Legal Tender) Regulations, 2019 will not negatively affect the travelling public, specifically foreign visitors. The regulations are meant for any transactions carried out within Zimbabwe, where it is now illegal to use foreign in hard cash. The legal tender shall be the Zimbabwe Dollar in both cash and electronic format.
Any freely convertible foreign currencies remain acceptable in Zimbabwe as follows:
1. Credit Cards are readily acceptable everywhere in Zimbabwe where the relevant arrangements have been made with the International Credit Card Companies such as VISA, MASTERCARD and others issued by different banks in the countries of origin of the travellers. Visitors are required to make the necessary arrangements with their banks before embarking on travel and when in the destination they need to look out for the logos of their respective credit cards. Please note that terms and conditions of the respective credit cards will apply and transactions are subject to the limits given by the banks. Service provider do have international credit card enable Point-of-Sale (POS) Machines.
2. Visitors may also withdraw local cash from international credit card enabled Automated Teller Machines (ATM’s) of the different banks. These
will be clearly marked international and will have the logos of the accepted credit card companies.
3. Foreign cash may be exchanged at the bank, bureau-de-change or any other authorised foreign currency dealers at the prevailing bank rates. Visitors may then use the so acquired local currency to transact. Visitors are however encouraged to use plastic money and only exchange amounts of money in cash that they anticipate to use. However, visitors may convert their money back to their foreign currency subject to prevailing terms and conditions. This may include proof in the prescribed format that one changed money upon their arrival.
4. Online payments and telegraphic transfers remain acceptable forms of payment in Zimbabwe
5. Visa fees where applicable are payable in foreign currency and may be paid in cash at any port of entry. The Government of Zimbabwe has an e-visa system and intending travellers may apply and pay for their visas online.
6. Tipping is not a commercial transaction and hence visitors are at liberty to tip the way they want. It becomes incumbent upon the recipient to ensure adherence to the foreign exchange regulations.
The Zimbabwe Tourism Authority has it from authoritative sources that reports circulating in certain sections of the social media purporting that police are authorised to stop and search people for foreign currency are untrue and should be dismissed with the contempt they deserve.

Air Zimbabwe and Mack Air announce launch of “FLAME LILY HOPPA” service
Mack Air and Air Zimbabwe signed an Agreement for the launch of the “Flame Lily Hoppa” domestic and regional air service in Harare, Zimbabwe on the 4th of July 2019.
The agreement outlines an integrated and synergistic operational and commercial partnership between the two airlines. This agreement includes the imminent launch of daily domestic scheduled air services between Victoria Falls, Harare and the major tourist destinations including Hwange, Kariba and Chiredzi. Additionally, the agreement includes services to camps and lodges within the environs of these major tourism hubs; on an anticipated per seat basis to service the lodge and camp clientele and drive additional tourism growth in these critical areas.
The Agreement also includes the launch of daily regional scheduled air services between Zimbabwe, Botswana, South Africa and Mozambique. These flights will initially focus on leveraging the historic tourism links between Zimbabwe and Botswana, obvious geographic positioning and thereby ensuring the inauguration of additional tourism circuit products, by operators and using a platform of integrated flights, services and links provided on the Flame Lily Hoppa.
Flights will be operated using a blend of brand new Cessna Grand Caravan EX operated by Mack Air and Embraer 145 jet aircraft from Air Zimbabwe.
Mack Air and Air Zimbabwe have also committed to supporting and spearheading the upgrade of both Kariba and Hwange Airports, alongside and in co-operation with the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe, Zimbabwe Tourism Authority and additional key stakeholders; in order to ensure the complete suitability of facilities for the region becoming a world class safari and recreational destination.
Engagement has been initiated with the International, Regional and Domestic Tourism Industry in order to ensure that all stakeholder interests are efficiently and effectively serviced. Additional announcements will be made in the coming weeks as these discussions further mature and crystallise.
About Air Zimbabwe Air Zimbabwe is the national carrier of Zimbabwe and has recently received delivery of its’ first Embraer 145 aircraft. Mtepatepa is a comfortable mono hull type houseboat. She has 3 cabins. Two of the cabins have double beds and the third cabin, 2 bunk beds (4 x singles).
